Late Arrival
Students are expected to arrive on time every day. Students who arrive late not only reduce their own opportunities for learning, but they also disrupt the learning process for students already in class. Here is some helpful information about late arrival:

  • Breakfast is served from 8:00 - 8:30am.
  • Students should plan on arriving at school no later than 8:30am in order to be on time for first period, which begins at 8:45am.
  • Students arriving after 9:00am will report to the main office and then be released to class. Students arriving after 9:30am will be held in In-School Suspension (ISS) until 10:00am.
  • Three (3) late arrivals equal one (1) unexcused absence.
  • Excessive lateness will result in further administrative action.

Students are expected to be in school every day. Regular attendance is vital to academic success at Brookland. Our goal is 100 percent attendance at each grade level. The only way we will be able to meet this goal is with your assistance. Brookland MS follows the district policies and guidance on attendance:

  • Two (2) missed periods equal one (1) absence.
  • Five (5) or more unexcused absences = mandatory meeting with Administration
  • Ten (10) or more unexcused absences = Child and Family Services Agency referral
  • If a student is late five (5) times in a quarter, they will receive an F in Advisory
  • If your student must be absent, please send them with an excuse note to
